Sixties Icon

Shinobi.wind, I have no idea who you are. However, I respect you opinion that Adam West is the real Batman.

I am of the opinion that Michael Keaton is the "Reel" Batman.

Val Kilmer is a weird actor who doesn't need the excuse of Scientology to be strange. George Clooney is a poseur; but we'll talk about that later...

I am humbled to have reached your headlines. However, I am dismayed that you have not identified me as of yet. The shinobi.wind is unseen and unheard yet blows through your presence regulary.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Clooney. He completely annoys me, and I can't exactly pinpoint why. Most certainly his acting is very boring, for he always uses the same smug grin for his dramatic reactions. And he mumbles his lines, I think to try and create a casual and natural feel. It doesn't create that for me. I am just in awe at how he can continue to command such a lofty income and why it seems no one dares to mention the monotony that his acting talent displays. He's not even sexy, either, like a lot of people say. I guess some are deceived by his false persona, or he wouldn't still be around. I think it's more of a mass manipulation that he exudes that somehow keeps the public from saying anything mean about him. I agree, Michael Keaton was definitely the best Batman. I've enjoyed his performances in everything I've seen him in. Val Kilmer is quite an oddity. That movie early in his career, Real Genius, was probably not a stretch for him to play. But he's at least dynamic. Awkwardly and unpredictably so at times, but his style is reminiscent of some of my stage actor friends from long ago, so I like him.

Part of me really wants to say nasty things about George Clooney. It all boils down to this, he should do what he does best: look pretty and remember his lines. He should stay away from politics -- unless he wants to run for office. It seems all the liberal celebs like to pontificate and make a splash for their causes. The conservative celebs generally stay quiet, donate money to their party, and put it on the line and run for office if they really believe the have the "right stuff." Why is that?

But another part of me wants to do two very important things: steer clear of politics, and stop making personal attacks on defenseless celebs. There's enough animosity in the world without me making blog drive-by attacks on people I don't even know. So I'm vowing to keep my snide remarks about celebs to a minimum.

But sometimes I know a celeb will be begging for a blog flogging. It's in their natures.

I just used that word on another post further down, referring to 'flogging'. That's a creative wordplay, 'blog flogging'. I swear I didn't steal it from this post. I've been reading a book about the age of chivalry and a certain monk named Gottschalk seemed to have more than his fair share of 'discipline'. So the word is freshly in my repertoire. This isn't the first time I've felt you were somehow spying upon my life. I think people rarely account how similar and connected their experiences are. Which is precisely why we shouldn't trash Clooney. We don't even know him. His persona created by his acting and media interviews really has little to do with who he really is. But undoubtedly there are things that could connect us if I sat down and chatted with him a bit. We would just have to avoid the subject of his acting.

The term you're looking for is "self-flagellation."

Someone is naughty, naughty. And a coward...won't even leave their name. I think they might need a good flogging.

Ronald Duncan is the Father of American Ninjutsu? That's impossible. Everyone knows that Ashida Kim is. Or was it Frank Dux?Man, I can never seem to remember. Those crazy ninjas.
